“Saranda Explore” is a web application built within the “Saranda in the Virtual World” project. This project was implemented by the Be the Change Center in partnership with the ALTRI Center. It was supported by the Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 2 (ReLOaD2), funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP.
The project “Saranda in the Virtual World” brings a new approach to tourism, using the power of digital platforms to put the cultural and natural treasures of Saranda in front of everyone’s eyes. The uniqueness of this initiative lies in the fact that it does not aim to inform, like other existing platforms, but will reflect dynamic and authentic experiences that involve and empower local youngsters.
The overall goal of the project is: To promote tourism and increase the number of tourists visiting the cultural, archaeological, and natural attractions in the Municipality of Saranda through information technology and innovative methods.
The specific objectives through which this goal will be achieved are:
- Promotion and digitization of cultural, archaeological, and natural attractions;
- Ensuring local and young people’s access to these attractions, through the engagement of local young people (“Youth Ambassadors”) and increasing their capacities in the development of “virtual tourism” of Saranda.
The “Saranda in the Virtual World” project began to be implemented in January 2023 and ends in October 2024.
